TNS have progressed to the next stage of Europa League qualification after they drew 1-1 away at Lincoln Red Imps last night.
The draw meant they won the tie 3-2 overall, after their 2-1 victory at home against the Gibraltar side last week.
Scott Ruscoe’s side went behind in last nights game after a goal by Juan Manuel Montesinos Romero put the home side ahead just before half-time.
It was another late goal that helped the Saints to victory with Dean Ebbe scoring in the last 10 minutes of the game to send his side through on aggregate.
Ruscoe admitted that his side were not at their bet, but he’s pleased they’re moving on to the next round.
He said: “We’re very pleased. It was a hard-fought victory overall, even though we drew tonight – it’s great to be in the next round.
“The game gave us a mixture of emotions, a late goal again tonight ultimately sent us through, we were hoping someone would dig us out and put us into the next round and thankfully that happened.
“We didn’t want to get into a position at the break where we were thinking our performance hasn’t been great or to feel like we’ve been taking the first leg result for granted, and that looked like it had happened.
“I wanted to make it clear before the game not to take them for granted, so they knew what they had to do out there, but you could see from the game we weren’t at our best – we struggled to string passes together and we just weren’t our usual self.
“It happens sometimes, we planned and prepared but if we’re not at our best sometimes we have to hold our hands up and admit that.”
TNS will now play Danish champions FC Midtjylland in the next round of the competition, with the first leg of the tie being played at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday, August 9.
Ruscoe is hoping that despite the journey down to South Wales, fans will still follow the side down to give their support.
He said: “It’s a nice opportunity for us to play somewhere different at such a nice stadium, although it is a long way away.
“I’d like to hope our fans are able to come down there and support us, it’d be nice to see for sure.”
The second leg of the tie will be played in Denmark on Thursday, August 16.
