FC Oswestry Town have suffered their first pre-season defeat.
Town suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of JD Welsh Premier League side Newtown at the Park Hall Stadium on Saturday.
The home side held their visitors at 0-0 for over an hour with not too many clear-cut chances for either team.
However the deadlock was broken by Newtown in the 67th minute when Jay Denny met Nick Rushton's cross and found the net.
After creating the opening goal, Rushton got himself on the scoresheet just minutes later to make it 2-0 with a close range strike.
The Robins bagged their third goal in seven minutes and put themselves beyond reach when new signing Sam Phillips' strike clipped the underside of the crossbar and found the back of Louis Mackin's net.
This meant Town suffered their first defeat in three games this pre-season, after victories against Llanfair United and Berriew.
Their next friendly takes place away from home when they face newly promoted Welsh side Caernarfon Town on Saturday, July 28.
Their final pre-season game will take place on Monday, July 30 when they take on Gresford Athletic, before starting their season on Saturday, August 4 with a home game against Sandbach United.
