Over 60 homes are to be built near Oswestry after being given the green light from Shropshire Council.
A new development next to the cricket ground in Whittington is set to go forward after being granted planning permission by Shropshire Council.
The plans will see the “erection of 61 Dwellings with Associated Access, Open Space, Gardens and Parking areas”.
The new homes will be built in the space the rear of Dorsett close and the land next to the cricket club and the site has been earmarked as an area for development in previous local development plans.
Developers, Shingler Homes have said that the new houses will be “predominantly two-storey designs” and will be a mix of “one, two, three and four-bedroom homes”.

The design of the site is aimed to keep density “low” and “reflect the village character” with “its setting adjacent to open countryside”.
Plans have also revealed that in the new development 10 of the 61 being put aside for affordable housing.
In their report the planning officer for Shropshire Council said: “The application proposes the overprovision of affordable housing, oversupply of biodiversity net gain in habitat and hedgerow creation and an overprovision of open space, including the creation of a play area.
“The provision of material considerations resulting in economic, social and other benefits when considered cumulatively are deemed to weigh in the balance in favour of approval despitethe development being contrary to the adopted development plan.

“The proposal is deemed to be acceptable in its siting, scale, design andmaterials and to have no harmful implications for highways, ecology, heritage, drainage or residential amenity of a level that would justify refusal.
“The application is therefore recommended for approval in accordance with relevant local and national development plan policies.”
