Plans have been submitted to build over 100 new homes next to the Orthopaedic hospital in Gobowen.

Plans submitted by property developer Shropshire Homes could see 110 new houses being built near Park Hall just opposite the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

According to the Design and Access statement for the site by Shropshire Homes “The application will seek full planning permission for a residential development of 110 dwellings with all associated infrastructure, such as access roads and footpaths, parking for residents and visitors, private amenity space, public open space and new landscaping features.”

It said 98 of the properties were private and 12 would be social housing.

The site plan shows that the new development would run in the area on the corner of Twmpath lane and North Drive.

According to the firm the area of land has been allocated for future development by Shropshire Council as part of the Local Development plan – which could see as many as 240 homes beng built on the site.

The company have said the plans for the 13-acre site would just be the first phase of development with two further parcels of land directly next to the site would also be earmarked for development.

The site would be made up of a “mixture of bungalows, detached and semi-detached houses”, most dwellings would “have an integral/ attached garage” and would be “set back with frontage parking.”

Plans for the site have been adjusted after a meeting with Whittington Parish Council in January which included changes to the siting of some houses and the use of more in keeping materials.

The plans will include affordable housing units according to Shropshire Homes these will include “8 affordable units located to the North and East of the site. They are tenure blind in appearance, semi-detached and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties.

“There are also 1 and 2 bed Elderly apartments and 1 bed key worker homes.”
