A new Burger King, Greggs and Costa Coffee will be coming to the A5 outside Oswestry.
A new drive thru has been granted planning permission by Shropshire Council which will see three new units being built on Whittington Road near the roundabout next to the Artillery business park.
The new site will see eight new commercial trade units also being built alongside the drive thru which will be occupied by Burger King, Greggs and Costa Coffee.

In the plans put forward by Evans Enterprises Limited it argues “the scale and massing of the proposed units has been designed to match the existing offering within the business park.
“As such each unit will be double storey, to accommodate a mezzanine level for office and amenity space with primary function space at ground floor.”
The plans were controversial with local residents claiming they were given little to no warning about the plans beforehand.

However in the report by the planning officer for Shropshire Council it found “The proposed development is compatible with surrounding land uses and officers do not have any significant concerns in relation to its design and layout.
“The proposal includes a robust scheme of landscaping which will help the site integrate with its surrounds, provide a buffer to neighbouring dwellings and also provide ecological enhancement."

It goes on to add that concerns over traffic were not found and that “the proposed access and egress arrangement are acceptable and reflect that approved as part of a previous outline permission.”
The officer added: “The proposal would result in economic and social benefits in terms of employment creation, investment. It would also provide biodiversity enhancements and would therefore contribute towards sustainable development objectives.
“It is therefore considered that the proposal is acceptable in relation to Development Plan subject to appropriate planning conditions.”
