THE final details of how a Grade II-listed building in Oswestry will be repaired have been submitted to Shropshire Council.
Planning officers have discharged condition six for planning permission given to repair the roof at the Cambrian Heritage Railway building in Oswald Road, which has been wrapped in scaffolding for nearly two years.
The condition, included in the planning permission granted last month, was to ensure that Shropshire Council was given all details of the planned works to sign off.

It said: “Before the relevant parts of the work are commenced, details of roofing materials, including ridge materials and detailing, together with the method of ventilating the roof voids and the method of fixing these items, shall be submitted and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority.
“Development shall be carried out in accordance with the agreed details.
“The reason (is) to ensure satisfactory preservation of the Heritage Asset.”
On Monday, August 5, Ruth Hitchen, planning officer at Shropshire Council, wrote to Steve Law through Peter Gilbertson from its own Property Services Group, to confirm the condition was discharged.
She said: “Thank you for your letter which I received on July 23.
“I am writing to confirm the information and drawings submitted are considered to be acceptable.”
An officer report from Ms Hitchen explained granting permission to approve the roof work, which was approved last month after an April submission.
It said: “The proposed work will enhance the significance of the designated heritage asset and its setting by carrying out informed and necessary repairs and replacement of failing areas of the building, which in turn will enhance the character and appearance of the Oswestry Conservation Area.”
It added: “The proposed work will not cause harm to the significance of the station building and will ensure its long-term preservation.

“The repair and replacement works should allow the building to be given a viable use going.”
The total cost of the work is expected to be around £900,000 with Shropshire Council able to secure £630,550 in UK Shared Prosperity Fund money.
The work is needed because of damage to the roof caused by storms across the winter of 2022 with corbels along the building in a state of serious disrepair.
