OSWESTRY made light work of Wednesbury in the Midlands Four West (North).
Both teams were greeted by a large crowd due to the annual vice president’s and ex-players’ day with the Oswestry men keen to impress and put a good show on for their supporters.
The black and white hoops of Wednesbury kicked off towards the BT building and immediately found themselves in the Oswestry 22.
However it was the hosts who led after Tom Hill went on a powerful run to score the first Oswestry try with Aidan Lyndsay converting.

The Bordermen soon doubled their lead with a scrum resulting in captain Nick Clay feeding Rory Kershaw who used his skill and speed to skip his way over for an unconverted try.
Oswestry continued to dominate and just five minutes later Kershaw released Lyndsay to cross for a try which he failed to convert.
Wednesbury did not give up and applied their own pressure and were rewarded with an unconverted try of their own.

Oswestry had the final say of the half with Luke Beckett releasing Craig Howell who ran through for a try to seal the bonus point by the break.
Coach Jordan Davies gave suitable advice to his team generally pleased with their performance at the break.
Oswestry kicked off the second-half keen to add points to the mounting scoreboard.
The pressure paid off with play close to the Wednesbury try line as vice captain Andrew Smith charged through and proved unstoppable.

Once again from the restart Oswestry who were quicker to the ball were able to charge into the visitors half and good interaction between the pack and backs saw Ed Roberts add a sixth try, converted by Lyndsay.
The visitors were tiring but Oswestry would not let them off the hook and a great run by Beckett and pass to Hill saw the latter celebrate his second try with Lyndsay converting.

Both sides were reduced to 14 men following a melee which saw Owen Wear joined by a visiting player in the sin bin.
Play continued and as full-time was approaching Fletcher Owen Youens was able to charge through and score what proved to be the final try of the day which Lyndsay converted to complete the rout as Oswestry stayed second in the table.
