PLANS to extend an agricultural machinery building at a Grade-listed building outside Oswestry are in front of Shropshire Council.

The plans for Aston Hall, a late 18th-century house in Shrewsbury Road, Aston, were submitted at the end of September, and will be seeking to do work on stables, which are also Grade-II listed.

A heritage impact statement said: "There are proposals for the refurbishment and repair of the underused and partly disused eastern range of the stableyard of Aston Hall, near Oswestry; the proposals also include the extension of an existing Cart Shed.

"Both the Hall and the stables are Grade-II listed, as is the walled kitchen garden.

OTHER NEWS:

"Therefore, this report has been produced under the guidelines of the National Planning Policy Framework to assess the heritage value of the buildings and any potential heritage impact of the proposals on them or on any adjacent heritage assets.

"It is not concerned with other planning matters.

"It concludes that the buildings represent a surprisingly complex development of the 19th century structures that are worthy of their listed status.

"It also concludes that the proposed refurbishment will significantly enhance the buildings and that whilst there would be a degree of change through the extension of the Cart Shed, this would not result in any harm – substantial or less than substantial – to the listed buildings or to any adjacent heritage assets."
