CHIRK AAA breathed new life into their survival bid with a 5-1 thrashing of a sorry Prestatyn Town on Tuesday night.

The Colliers outclassed their opponents in every department with the match ending the match three minutes early when the floodlights failed at Bastion Gardens.

It was a small mercy for the home side who were put to the sword emphatically by a Chirk side closing on safety.

Dale Davies broke the deadlock inside the opening 10 minutes with Rhys Edwards soon doubling the tally as Chirk raced ahead.

"We’ve felt these results have been coming and the players have been rewarded with 10 points from 15.

"It was a very good performance for 90 minutes and our man of the match being Matthew Williams led from the back.

"We have a big game against Gresford on Saturday when we can hopefully take three points and to the verge of safety."
