PARTS of North Wales and south Cheshire could face heavy snowfall on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Met Office.

And residents across north Shropshire are also being warned to expect some snow, despite not being included in the yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office for Monday evening into Tuesday.

A warning for snow and ice will come into effect from around 7pm until 10am on Tuesday for much of northern England and some parts of the Midlands.

Oswestry and Whitchurch are both on the edge of the yellow warning, as is Chirk, but residents are expected to be impacted upon through travel.

A Met Office spokesman said: “There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

“A small chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become impassable.

“There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

“There is a slight chance that bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times.

“A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

“There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.”
