A POPULAR dog’s charity in Oswestry is yet again gearing up for a tough winter supporting rescues through to adoption.
Hector’s Greyhound Rescue supports animals all over the area and is calling for help keeping supplies stocked up over the winter to keep dogs healthy.
This includes supporters and more attending the Winter Wonderland coffee morning planned for Saturday, November 23 from 10am until 2pm.

Hayley Bradley, from Hector’s, said the costs of what they do – such as food and vet treatments – has risen continually and added they need to bring in at least £20,000 to get through to next year
She said: “It’s getting pretty desperate to be honest.
“It costs £7.50 per dog a day plus insurances on buildings and van – it's crippling us.
“One dog came into our care very thin recently and covered in scars needing help.
“As the winter months approach, Hector’s Greyhound Rescue faces one of its most challenging seasons yet.
“To keep our shelter safe, warm, and well-stocked with food, we urgently need to raise £20,000.
“This will help cover heating, food supplies, and the rising cost of vet bills for the dogs who rely on us.
“We’re reaching out to our supporters and dog lovers everywhere to help make this possible.
“We’re inviting you to join us for a Winter Warmers Coffee Morning on Saturday, November 23 at Oswestry Memorial Hall.
“Doors open at 9.30am and all proceeds will go directly to support the greyhounds in our care.
“Santa Paws himself will be there for festive photos, and all dogs are welcome to come along for treats, fun, and holiday cheer.
“Whether you’re able to attend in person or wish to donate online, every contribution counts and will go directly toward keeping our shelter warm, our dogs well-fed, and ensuring they get the medical care they need.”
Four-legged friends are welcome at the coffee morning where there will be hot drinks available for the humans and treats for the doggies.
