A former Oswestry student travelled over 10,000 miles for a recent school reunion.
Ron Kendrick, 77, a former pupil of Oswestry Boys High School travelled 10,620 miles from Australia to join other old boys at their annual reunion at The Hand Hotel, Chirk.
Ron who now lives in Sydney studied at the school between 1958 and 1964 and renewed several friendships with former school pals.
On leaving school Ron embarked on a career in the Merchant Navy and became a captain sailing to ports around the world before settling in Australia.

Ron’s journey managed to dwarf the next longest journey which was the 264 miles made from Cornwall by Robert Vaughan who lives in Looe.
He met an old school pal he had not seen for 35 years Tony Edwards from Dudleston Heath.
Robert, who's originally from Ruyton-XI-Towns, was a farmer but later had a career in the hospitality business.
Members and guests including girls from Oswestry Girls High School, were welcomed by the Boys High School Association chairman Professor Ron Jones OBE.
During the reunion, the president, David Preston, who served as the former Oswestry town clerk, recalled memories of his time at the school.
Committee member Don Howard made a plea for old boys to visit Oswestry Library to see records of the school’s history which could form the basis of a future booklet to which they could contribute.
