A MAN caught with drugs in Oswestry after failing to stop for police has been arrested, officers have confirmed.

One man was arrested on Wednesday evening after a pursuit through Oswestry town centre after officers caught a ‘strong smell of cannabis’ out of a vehicle which was being driven erratically.

An officer from Oswestry Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) confirmed the arrest and that cash and drugs were also taken at the scene.

They said: “A male has been arrested for failing to stop for police and possession with intent to supply following a vehicle pursuit in Oswestry town centre.

“When officers attempted to stop the vehicle it failed to stop and made off. Officers followed the vehicle onto Beatrice Street where the driver attempted to decamp.

“The driver was blocked in by officers and swiftly arrested. A quantity of cash, controlled drugs were seized from the vehicle.

“The driver remains in police custody.”
