A VAN stuck in floods has led to a drive to be rescued by boat in an Oswestry village.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) firefighters from Baschurch and Shrewsbury were sent to Chapel Lane in Melverley, near Oswestry, at around 11am on Monday after reports of flooding.
They found a vehicle stuck in the water, following the heavy rains last week and the recent gales of Storm Ashley, leading to a dramatic rescue.

A SFRS spokesman said: “Three fire appliances including the Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Baschurch and Shrewsbury.

“An operations officer was also in attendance.
“One person was rescued using boat crews from Shrewsbury from vehicle stuck in flood water.”
A stop message confirming no further support was sent to SFRS control around 12.35pm confirming that no further support was required.
