AN OSWESTRY woman has given her heartfelt thanks to all the people who have donated animal foods and toys for her to play Father Christmas.

Donna Millward put out a call at the start of 2024 to help her build up a bank of food, toys and equipment to be taken to rescue centers in a two-hour radius of her Oswestry home.

Since her call, she has been inundated with donations and plans to distribute them around centers in Shrewsbury, Cheshire and even as far afield as Kidderminster.

These include Shropshire Cat Rescue in Shrewsbury, Oswestry Cat Rescue, Dogs Trust in Shrewsbury, Paw Prints to Freedom in Nantwich while Forest Dog Rescue and Birch Hill Rescue, both in Kidderminster, plus Perfectly Feral in Oswestry.

She is also taking items to RSCPA Gonsal Farm Center and says she is delighted to be able to go through with her promise.

She said: “I've spent the last month putting together the list of centers that I'm going to, by searching on Google to see where was local to us.

“I'm going to have to go a bit further afield for centers as I have so much stuff.

“There was a slow down because of the summer holidays which was to expected and I also had to take some time to look after myself because of a family bereavement.

“But then I was able to get back to it.

“Being honest, some places have told me that they can't take stuff.

“I'm not bringing a truckload but maybe a few bags but I do understand.

“I'm still receiving items for cats and dogs and I'm looking for suggestions for more places to send them, though I do have more for dogs than cats so places for that would be great.

“I just want to thank everyone for their support again – people have been so generous and there was one lady, who wants to stay anonymous, who brought so much dog stuff after a bereavement.

“I just want to send her so much love and everyone who has helped a massive thank you.
