TWO Oswestry men will stand trial accused of seriously assaulting another man in 2022 after pleading not guilty to the offence.
Matthew Butler, 36 and of Weston Rhyn, and Timothy Butler, 31 of Unicorn Road, in Oswestry, both appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court – sitting at Telford Justice Centre – on Monday (October 21).

The former denied two charges including causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) on May 15, 2022, to Levi Hughes and also being in possession of an axis in St Martins on the same day.

The younger defendant also pleaded not guilty to the GBH offence, as well as to a charge of damaging property, namely a wing mirror belonging to Mr Hughes's Ford Fiesta car.
Both men will now stand trial starting July 28, 2025 which is expected to last for three days.
They were given unconditional bail by the court.
