THERE has been one last twist in the tale of the Rolex watch eaten by a cow in Oswestry after a new calf was named after the people who restored it.
Last weekend, staff from Holland watch company Chronoglide drove to Treflach Hall to return the restored Rolex watch to its owner James Steele three months after detectorist Liam King found it 50 years after it was lost.
James and his son Andrew, who commissioned Liam to detect on the farm, were delighted to meet Kaal Slaap and his team who restored his watch.

And now Andrew has taken a step towards long-term friendship between the Steeles and the company with the naming of a calf born hours after the Dutch contingent left for home.

He said he felt calling the calf Trevlock 1 Chronoglide was a fitting tribute to their work.
He said: “As well as being a dairy farmer with Great British Friesians, I also have Pedigree Herefords which are a local beef breed well suited for uplands of Oswestry.
“The calf in the picture is a bull calf.
“All cattle are identified with a number on a national data base and pedigree animals are given a name also.
“Trevlock 1 Chronoglide is a fine name.
“Trevlock is the herd prefix while 1 signifies the animal is polled (no horns) and Chronoglide is a name associated with perfection, passion and serendipity and an association now entwined with our family for years to come.”
Jurriaan Horowitz, who was part of the travelling Dutch group to visit Oswestry, said he and his colleagues were absolutely delighted to have the naming honour bestowed on them.

He said: “Of course we are ecstatic and honoured that a calf was named after Chronoglide.
“We are grateful that the family shows their respect in this way.
“We truly hope that we have created a long lasting friendship, not only with the family, but also with Trevlock 1 Chronoglide.”
