CANDIDATES to be co-opted onto Ellesmere Town Council will be given their chance to pitch for the role of councillor at Monday’s meeting.

The meeting, at Ellesmere Town Hall, will be from 7.15pm and after councillors have heard from Katie Woodfroffe, from the Canal & Rivers Trust, concerning a planning application for the canal yard.

Members of the public and press will be asked to leave the room while candidates make their presentations to current councillors who will then vote.

Councillors will be asked to read a report and eventually approve a loan transfer from the Cemetery Working Group to the town council of £11,263.91.

OTHER NEWS:

Members will be asked to note reports concerning legionella testing at Ellesmere Town Hall and Cross Street public toilets.

They will be asked to approve quotations for any works recommended by the report and also to implement monthly testing for the bacteria.

There is also a report for councillors on whether there is a need for Ellesmere Town Hall to have a premises licence.

Two items concerning Birch Road recreation ground will also be discussed; first, to form an agreement between Ellesmere Town Council and the Ministry of Defence for permission for Ellesmere Cadets to use the recreation ground.

Also, Ellesmere Cricket Club has also made a request for the ground to be used for training purposes.

Road closures in the town in October will also be discussed.

Meanwhile, minutes from the meeting held last month will be discussed and signed off in the private session of the meeting in a move away from standard procedure.

A Shropshire Council payroll error will also be discussed away from press and public.
