Oswestry and Whitchurch are set to see another deluge on Monday, as the Met Office issued another weather warning for heavy rain.

The warning is in place from 8am on Monday (September 30), until 3am on Tuesday (October 1) and covers parts of North Wales, Merseyside, and the northern part of Shropshire.

River levels are already high, and there is a flood warning in place for the Tern and Perry catchments in Shropshire, potentially affecting the area around Wem.

"There is a small chance that heavy rain may cause some flooding and disruption on Monday," the warning says.

"There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses. There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

"Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services. Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads."

It is one of three weather warnings in place on Monday, with others in South Wales and the East Midlands. There is another warning in place for Tuesday covering the East Midlands.

The Environment Agency alert says: "We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
