A MAJOR hotel chain is bidding to add more bedrooms to its Oswestry site, according to a planning application with Shropshire Council.
Premier Inn Hotels, which is based close to the Mile End Services, submitted a proposal on Friday, September 20 to convert the former Oswald’s Cross pub and restaurant into a new block of rooms.
It comes after the former Table Table business was closed to the public over the summer.

It said: “The existing hotel building has an L-shaped form creating two wings to the building.
“The western wing represents the original building with the eastern wing was a previous extension constructed in 2017.
“The principal elevation of the hotel faces towards Maes-Y-Clawdd Road to the west.
“The western wing of the building has a simple pitched roof design which is broken up by two gable ends to the east and west elevations.
“The eastern wing of the building has a jerkinhead style roof with a gable within the northern elevation. The hotel building has a symmetrical window alignment between each floor throughout the building.
“The entrance lobby is differentiated from the two main wings of the existing hotel with a single storey storm porch which highlights the location of the hotel reception within the west elevation.
“The restaurant building has a more traditional style including bay windows at ground floor and chimney stacks within the roof profile, the external finishes are similar to the hotel having red brick walls, timber framed windows and black UPVC rainwater goods.”
It added: “It is proposed to create additional hotel accommodation for the hotel through the conversion of the existing restaurant building to a hotel use with an ancillary restaurant included as part of the conversion.
“The proposed conversion will primarily relate to internal re-arrangements, however, where necessary existing openings in the external walls would be removed and new openings proposed as part of the works.”
It continued: “The proposal would result in a hotel with a total of 109 bedrooms, a net increase of 11 rooms.
