ANOTHER Oswestry bank branch is set to close next year, according to a letter sent out to customers.

Halifax, in Bailey Street, will close on April 28 next year,  according to the letter which was posted on social media and seen by The Advertizer.

It added that the branch will be replaced by a community banker and that customers will be able to use other branches, and blamed the increased rise on internet banking for the closure.

The announcement has also been published on the bank's website.

It said: “Before we close any branch, we look at how customers are managing their money and using the branch.

“Most customers are now using out mobile banking app, internet banking or calling us instead, which means they’re using branches, including Oswestry much less.

“Because of this, we’ve made the decision to close Oswestry branch on April 28, 2025.”

The letter said that after a branch closes, a Halifax Community Banker will be available in the area to help customers.

It added: “Your account numbers and sort codes will stay the same.

“So, any regular payments you’ve got to set up like Direct Debits, and standing orders, will still be paid.

“You can also continue to use any cards or PINs you have as usual.
