A village council has cleaned up inappropriate graffiti from a children's playground.

Baschurch Parish Council said individuals in the area are suspected of leaving graffiti – leading to members of the council cleaning up the mess.

The council voiced their displeasure about having to clean the artwork which refers to “sexualised words or symbols, or latest gossip”.

The council confirmed that one person had come forward and cleaned off the offending tags that they had left on the surface of the playground.

In a statement online, Baschurch Parish Council said: “My family and I have just had an interesting couple of hours dealing with various words and ‘art’ work kids shouldn’t be seeing in the playground.

“It’s not perfect, but we’ve got rid of the worst of it.

“One of those responsible did come forward on Saturday and removed her handiwork, the other person allegedly responsible denied all knowledge.

"We have the photos so the police can sort it - it’s beyond the remit of the parish council.

“Please remind your children to respect the equipment, it’s there for all to be enjoyed not as someone’s canvass for sexualised words or symbols, or latest gossip.
