AN INTREPID team from an Oswestry-based technology firm has raised more than £1,000 for Hope House children’s hospice by tackling the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge in just 16 hours.

Organiser Daniel Groves and a team of eight Specialist Network Operations Ltd (SNO) employees took on the sponsored challenge to walk the three highest peaks in North, Mid, and South Wales in under 24 hours.

Their adventure was a gruelling one which took them to the summits of Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan.

The SNO team comprised Daniel who was joined by Max Lewis, Andrew Usher, Sam Lewis, Jonathan Morgan, Stephen Goodman, Morgan Dibbins, Arran Matthews and Finn Stewart.

Daniel, speaking on behalf of the group, said they were delighted to be able to take on the challenge to help but admitted the weather conditions of the day left them digging deep for the motivation.

He said: “It was a cold, wet and windy day. However, we were proud to climb three peaks, taking 16 hours from start to finish.

“The team collectively covered a 6,500ft elevation, walked 405,000 steps, burnt 72,000 calories and experienced what seemed like 100,000 gallons of rain!”

“Hope House is an amazing local charity located in Morda. They care for babies and children with life-threatening conditions.

“Their incredible work has helped more than 750 seriously ill children and their families.

“We wanted to raise more than £1,000 to help them to continue to provide such a wonderful service. We are thrilled to have raised £1,192, thanks to many generous sponsors.”

Fundraiser Vicky Bradbeer thanked the team for taking on such a difficult challenge.

“It must have been really hard going and we’re so grateful. Every penny they’ve raised will help us to provide vital respite stays, counselling and bereavement support to local families.”
