THE A483 from Oswestry to Welshpool is now reopen after Friday’s fatal and tragic accident, it has been confirmed.
The road from Mile End roundabout down to Llanymynech was closed to all southbound traffic, and most northbound traffic, after a serious road traffic collision at around 9am until 7.20pm.
A 59-year-old man died in the accident between a grey Audi car and a blue HGV vehicle, whose driver was treated for minor injuries.
A seven-year-old girl – believed to be a passenger in the same vehicle as the deceased man – was taken by air ambulance to Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have launched an appeal for information.
National Highways Midlands have confirmed the road has now reopened in both directions.
In a message posted on X, they said: “The earlier serious collision has been cleared and the road is now fully re-opened.
“No delays.”
Traffic monitoring website Inrix says its sensors have now said the road is clear and open.
It said: “Earlier accident investigation work (over), road re-opened.”
