A MAJOR road between Oswestry and Welshpool is expected to be closed for ‘’several hours’ after a serious collision on Friday.
West Mercia Police confirmed that emergency services attended Maesbury Road close to the Mile End roundabouts after a serious collision at around 9.15am.
National Highways Midlands has also now confirmed the road’s closure.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “Emergency services are currently in attendance at a serious collision on the A483.
“The road is closed between Mile End and Welshpool and is expected to be closed for a number of hours.
“The Maesbury Road Junction is also closed. Please seek alternative routes.”
A spokesman for National Highways Midlands added: “The A483 is closed in both directions between the Oswestry near the B4393 at the Welsh border due to a serious collision.
“Traffic is being diverted on approach. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours.”
