STUDENTS at the Lakelands Academy in Ellesmere have been praised for achieving a ‘great set of results’ in the 2024 GCSEs.
A number of students at the school picked up Grades 7-9 including include Tirion Owen, who achieved four 9s and three 8s; Matthew Goodes, who picked up one 9 and three 8s and Reuben Lancaster, who achieved one Grade 9 and two Grade 8s.
A spokesman for the school said: “Congratulations to ‘Class of 2024’, who have worked so hard to achieve a great set of results.

“These are well deserved and a reflection of the spirit of this wonderful group of young people.”
Meanwhile, there were also many who made outstanding progress due to hard work and a positive attitude.
Juris Jancevskis beat all his targets, achieving five Grades 7-9 (including three Grade 9s for Triple Science and a Grade 8 for History).
Thomas Davies achieved three grades above target in Geography (Grade 7), Physics (Grade 8) and Chemistry (Grade 8).
Amy Burgess was delighted to surpass her target in BTEC PE, achieving a Distinction, and in Food GCSE, achieving a Grade 8 (two grades above target).

Headteacher Mark Hignett was full of praise for all of the students picking up results.
He said: “We are thrilled for all our students who have achieved grades upon which they can build as they embark upon the next stage of their lives.
“On behalf of the staff and governors of Lakelands Academy, I would like to wish the ‘Class of 2024’ all the very best for a healthy and successful future.”
