A NEW Rotary Club was launched in Oswestry this week after two at either ends of the age spectrum came together.

The oldest club in town, Oswestry Rotary, joined forces with Oswestry Cambrian, after working closely together over the last 12 months.

The new club is called the Rotary Club of Oswestry and Cambrian and meets weekly at The Wynnstay Hotel on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm.

OTHER NEWS:

It follows the newer, more relaxed style of Rotary, members can come along and have a meal before the meeting if they wish, or just come along for the weekly get together, with just one hybrid business meeting a month.

A club spokesman said: “A full calendar of community events is planned for the next 12 months, plus plans for lots of fun and social events.

“Of course the club will continue to support overseas projects, such as End Polio, Lend with Care, and responding to global disasters.

“Collaboration is an integral part of how the club works, helping Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club with the Christmas Parade, Ellesmere Rotary Club with their Annual Regatta, Royal British Legion with the Poppy collection and helping many more of our local charities and organisations.”
