A village in the Oswestry area will be hosting its first flower and vegetable show for a number of years.
St Martin’s will be welcoming the return of its annual flower and vegetable show on Saturday, August 19.
The people behind the show hope it will be a way to rekindle interest in traditional village shows that used to be popular in the area.
Describing the event, organiser Paul Gurnett said: “We wanted to put on a packed day out for the village and surrounding area.

“There’s this sense that traditional village shows are somewhat dying out, but we’re looking for ways to rekindle the interest in community agricultural events like this one.”
St Martin's CE Primary School has also been involved with the event, supplying things like compost and seed beds for the show as part of a project from the school’s pupils.
Mr Gurnett added: “It’s part of a big effort to make it a community wide event, the kind that used to take place every year. It’s when that wide interest goes away that they come under threat of not going ahead, as the flower and vegetable one was for a while.
“We’ve reached out to new estates and different parts of the village ahead of the 2024 show, so we like to think there’s some good interest in this going forward.”
