WELCOME to a very special edition of bygones
Today we are grateful to reader Anita Pritchard who has shared a wonderful selection of pictures from the past which cast new light on Oswestry's Regal and Granada Cinema and the people who worked there during its golden era.
Our first picture was taken in the late 1950’s and shows Barbara Bass presenting Amy Barnet with a bouquet on her retirement. Also pictured are Una Bennett, George Browett and Mrs Woodhead and anyone who can name the rest of the group are asked to get in touch.
OTHER NEWS:
- Former soldier jailed for assaulting and stalking ex-girlfriend in Oswestry
- Mum's shock at Oswestry Morrisons confiscating alcohol over Down's syndrome son ID
- Ellesmere family farm to undergo dispersal sale at end of an era
Our second picture shows “Miss Candy” shop at the Granada in 1950’s and pictured (from left) are Mrs Needham, Pamela Woodhead and Anita Bennett.
Our final pictures were taken as far back as the 1930’s and shows Una Bennett, then Jones, with a work colleague.
Do you have any memories from the town cinema during this period? Perhaps you would like to share pictures of the past from your own collection. Get in touch by emailing gavin.grosvenor@newsquest.co.uk today.
