A ROAD connecting two Oswestry villages is closed and traffic is at a standstill, drivers are being warned.
THE A496 from the Ye Olde Boot Inn, in Whittington, is blocked towards Twmpath Lane in Gobowen along the B5009 as of 5.45pm on Friday.
According to local reports on social media, a car has overturned and has come to rest on its roof while both highways monitoring website Inrix and Google Maps have indicated issues.
Inrix said: “Whittington Road Northbound partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident from A495 Boot Street (Whittington) to Twmpath Lane (Derwen).”
Google Maps is showing that traffic is slow in both directions between Gobowen and Whittington and that both sides of the road are blocked.
