Llanfyllin Show, often dubbed the "friendly show", will celebrate its latest show under new leadership.

Both the president and chairman have recently changed, with Doug Williams taking the role of president and Peter Lewis becoming the chairmanship.

The family-friendly show is happening at Bodfach Park, Llanfyllin, on Saturday, August 10.

Mr Williams, from Bryn Vyrnwy Holiday Park, Llansantffraid, has been a long-standing visitor at the show for around 60 years.

He said: "I have missed very few shows over since my schooldays.

"It’s a very good quality show and one of the things that has impressed me most over the years is how efficient and hardworking the committee is.

"Llanfyllin also has a very good young farmers’ club and their enthusiasm has not dwindled over the years."

Mr Williams' journey started as a dairy farmer, but approximately 40 years ago he diversified to create a park with 100 holiday homes.

His wife, Janet, has also been a renowned participant in the horticulture and floral art sections at the show.

To celebrate, the couple are hosting the president's lunch at Bodfach Park on Sunday, August 4.

Doors open at 9am for the big event.

The land belongs to the owners of Bodfach Hall, Christopher and Laura Acton, and Janet Jones, Parc, president of the 150th show in 2019.

Mr Lewis, who lives at Green Hall, Llanfyllin, is taking on his second term as chairman in addition to serving as Mayor of Llanfyllin.

He said: "It’s one of the biggest agricultural shows in the old county of Montgomeryshire and a massive event for the town because it attracts so many people to see what we have to offer.

"We are lucky to have such a fantastic show committee and the most picturesque showground in the old county, thanks to the generosity of the landowners."

Mr Lewis' family has a strong connection with the show; his late father, Trefor Lewis, was chairman, one of his daughters, Sian, is the current show secretary, and all family members contribute in one way or another.

Some of the top attractions at the show include a Mini Pony Show, In Miniature!, dog agility displays, Porthywaen Silver Band, children’s activities and even a vintage machinery parade.

Visitors can also enjoy showjumping, horticulture and floral art classes, and sheep shearing.

One of the show's highlights is the sheep shearing competition, bringing in the best sheep shearers from all over Wales.

The show will also feature a speed shearing competition by Montgomery Young Farmers Clubs.
