THE need to introduce solar panels and heat pumps to an Ellesmere planning application has led to an amended version submitted to Shropshire Council.
Plans to convert the Old Railway Station, in Brownlow Road, into flats were approved in 2021 after first submitted in 2018.
However, another proposal was sent to the planning portal in July in order to make changes to include the installation of solar panels and heat pumps in order to match Shropshire Council’s green regulations.

An application form, included as part of the proposal for applicant Homes Plus Limited, set out the reason for the amendment.

It said: “Following Energy Assessors calculations and assessment in order to achieve the required minimum Energy Performance Certificate rating of 'D', Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar PV panels need to be introduced.
“The introduction of these elements will be sensitively implemented and will bring the scheme in line with Shropshire Council's Policy to reduce carbon emissions across the county.”
A decision is expected by Wednesday, August 21.
