FIRE chiefs say a devastating blaze at a takeaway premises in Chirk has resulted in “100 per cent fire damage to the first floor”.

A spokesperson for the North Wales Fire and Rescue service also said that no one had been injured by the incident at the Asian Wok, and that investigators had determined that the cause was accidental.

Firefighters attended the Asian Wok takeaway at St Mary's Precinct, Church Street in Chirk, Wrexham at around 7pm last night (Friday, July 27) and remained at the scene for several hours.

The fire service deployed an aerial platform, and incident command and welfare units alongside four fire crews to tackle the blaze.

A fundraiser has since been started by Kylie Hall in aid of the Asian Wok Chinese and Thai takeaway. The 'Go Fund Me' page can be found here

Jamie Ward’s Butchers & Deli is adjacent to the stricken takeaway.

Jamie said: “I feel a lot of sympathy for Andy and Jasmine who run the Asian Wok.

“They’re good neighbours and they run a very good business and I think it’s very sad.

“We’ve got a really lovely community here in Chirk with a number of small businesses and we all get on and look after one another.

The Cake Kitchen, located nearby on Church Street, said: “What an incredible response from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service last night when a fire broke out at Asian Wok in Chirk.

“Thankfully the whole family escaped uninjured, however, despite the best efforts of the firefighters, the first floor accommodation and the roof were completely destroyed."
