A FUNDRAISER has been launched in aid of a takeaway devastated by a blaze at the building yesterday (Friday, July 26)

Firefighters were in attendance at the Asian Wok takeaway at St Mary's Precinct, Church Street in Chirk, Wrexham at around 7pm and remained at the scene late last night.

A spokesman said at 9.50pm: “Four crews, the Aerial Ladder Platform, the Incident Command Unit and the Welfare Unit are currently in attendance at a fire a building on St Mary’s Precinct, Church Street, Chirk.

“The initial call was received at 6.49pm this evening.

“We’re asking everyone to keep away from the area while firefighters tackle the fire.”

North Wales Police were also in attendance advising motorists and member of the public to avoid the area.

A fundraiser has since been started by Kylie Hall in aid of the Asian Wok Chinese and Thai takeaway.

Kylie says: "As most of you would have seen sadly Asian wok in chirk was hit by a devastating fire this evening 26/07/2024 which has completely gutted the roof area as seen in the above photo.

"Sadly the damage of the shop is unknown at the moment but the cost to rebuild this an open again is sadly going to cost a fortune.

"Even if it is a pound please help all you can and if you can’t donate please share."
