A DUDLESTON singing star of the future has taken one step closer to winning a YouTube competition after he reached the finals.

Sean Curteis, who attends Prestfelde School in Shrewsbury, has been named a finalist of Talent Search UK 2024 after wowing judges with his performance of the acapella section of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

And he doubled up his wowing of the judges by accompanying himself along on the piano and his bowing to the judges brought out the light side in his performances.

OTHER NEWS:

Speaking to the competition’s own media on its YouTube channel, Sean said he was delighted to have made it so far.

He said: “I’m really thankful for everyone who helped me get into this competition and helped me get to the finals.

“I want to say thanks to my mum and dad, my teachers Ryan and Joey for helping me with my songs.

“Thank you.

“I like to bow after my performances because people enjoy it and it is respectful.

“But also, it stops you from standing still after the performance and you’re not just rigid – it gives you a reason to move and it’s respectful.”

He added that his favourite performance was his rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Sean said: “I enjoy singing it but it also shows off my piano playing too.”

The judges praised him for choosing the song to ‘push your boundaries’ and also for singing it in an acapella style which the considered to be a challenge for a singer of Sean’s age.

He will be singing Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, by Elton John, for his final song.
