A CHIMNEY fire in Oswestry prompted the call out of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) firefighters on Monday night.

One crew was sent from Oswestry to Queens Road at around 6.30pm after reports of the chimney fire.

A spokesman for SFRS confirmed what action the firefighters had to take.

They said: “Crews used chimney rods and a thermal imaging camera and they extinguished the fire within it.”

A stop message to SFRS control confirming no further support was required was sent around one and 20 minutes after arrival.
