THERE was something fishy about a student art competition in St Martins – and competitors ‘got the memo’ perfectly.

Year 9 students at St Martins School, in Moors Bank, were given the task of creating a piece of artwork based on ‘Aquatic Life’ to be chosen for display at Len’s Plaice, a popular takeaway in the village.

A spokesman for the school said the competition was supported well by students, plus bosses at Len’s Plaice and all were delighted to have taken part.

OTHER NEWS:

They said: “The Year 9 students organised an art exhibition showcasing their creativity and hard work.

“Kevin and Jen, owners of Len’s Plaice were invited to view the exhibition so that they could choose the pieces that met their brief.

“They chose one winner and two runners up.

“The lucky winner was Abbie Blease and the runners up were Bence Hoffmann and Poppie Chapman-Price.

“Well done to all three artists.

“Kevin and Jen very kindly awarded Abbie with a Booka Bookshop voucher, in Oswestry, and of course a fish and chips voucher.

“The two runners-up also received a fish and chips voucher.
