An investigation into a stabbing which led to the centre of Oswestry being closed and one person airlifted to hospital has been closed with no charges.

Two people were arrested in March following the attack on a 47-year-old man and a woman, with the former needing to be airlifted to hospital via air ambulance.

A woman, 35 years old, was also treated at the scene by paramedics after the incident in an alleyway in Leg Street on March 28.

Two people were arrested on attempted murder charges on April but were later released on police bail on April 2.

However, West Mercia confirmed to The Advertizer on Friday, July 19 that both people had been released without charge and the investigation was considered closed.

A spokesman said: “The investigation is closed, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection.”

The incident in March caused for police to close Leg Street from Salop Road and an air ambulance landed at Cae Glas Park, nearby, to transport the injured male to hospital.

Eyewitnesses at the time said that the incident occurred down a side alley between two businesses where there are flats.

There was a heavy police presence at the time.
