This year saw record breaking crowds at West Felton Carnival with hundreds descending on the village.

Organisers have said over 1,000 people attended this year’s carnival which they describe a "big success".

Over 100 people took part in the floats this year which included The Wombles, a fire engine, a pirate ship, the Olympics, Quality Streets and the village primary school – with the pirate ship winning the children’s category and the Olympics winning the grown-up category.

Along with this Noah Bancroft and Holly Dyke were crowned this year’s carnival king and queen.

One of the organisers of the festival, Joanne Summers, hailed the best year yet for the event.

“Record breaking crowds were seen at West Felton carnival this year with well over 1,000 people turning out for the entertainment,” said Joanne.

“This year’s procession included a juggler, stilt walker, classic cars and trucks, a pipe band, gymnasts, cheerleaders, and the land girls.

“Entertainment on the stage was provided by the Porthwaen Silver band, Alfie Edward’s, the Wirral Pipe band and an array of local groups performing their arts. 

“In the field were donkey rides, a rodeo sheep, fairground rides and an inflatable assault course, as well as many stalls providing delicious produce and crafts.  Food was provided by Pizza Box and The Punch Bowl Inn.

“A lot of effort goes into keeping the community event alive.  The success of the event was made possible by our generous sponsors: Homemaster Relocations, Border Temperature Control, Network Plus, Invertek Drives, MVRS Horsebox Repair, as well as a resourceful band of helpers who volunteered to man the gates and road closures.
