SHROPSHIRE Council has confirmed changes to one bus services from Oswestry which will impact on students attending the Marches School.

The announcement is part of a number of changes made for the next school year in September 2024, including one service between Shrewsbury and Newport being dropped altogether.

A spokesman for Shropshire Council confirmed the changes that are coming, including the 54 bus from Oswestry to Cefn-y-Blodwel.

They said: “From September 2024, the 54 service operated by Tanat Valley Coaches will operate 10 minutes later from Oswestry Bus Station at 3.10pm.

“Collection for students from The Marches School will be at 3.22pm.”

Other changes include the 521 from Shrewsbury Bus Station to Newport, which will impact on students travelling to Haberdashers Adams Grammar and Newport Girls High School. The bus will be withdrawn after next Friday (July 19).

From Saturday, August 2024, Harlescott Park & Ride will no longer pick up or set down customers at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings.

And Ellesmere-based Lakeside Coaches will no longer run the Shrewsbury to Cardington bus after the tender was won by Minsterley Motors.

“Customers travelling by bus can continue to park their vehicle for free at Harlescott Park & Ride and catch Arriva routes 24 and 25, which operate up to every fifteen minutes throughout the day on Mondays to Saturdays.

“Buses for Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings will pick up at the route 24 and 25 bus shelter at the rear of Tesco.

“Customers should disembark at the bus stop located at Spring Gardens Junction in Sultan Road and, for their journey back to Harlescott, should pick the bus back up at the bus layby outside Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings on Spring Gardens.”
