This year’s Ellesmere 10k has been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The popular annual run which sees hundreds take part has had to be cancelled after being initially planned for August 25.

The event is hugely popular and has seen runners attend form all over the country take part whilst also gaining a large amount of support locally.

The organisers of the 10k confirmed that a refund process would be set up for people who had already booked their places.

Event Coordinator for the Ellesmere 10K and 2K, Paul Davies, apologised for the disruption in a post online.

“It is with deep regret that I must announce the cancellation of the Ellesmere 10K and 2K running event scheduled for Sunday 25th August 2024,” said Mr Davies.

“This decision was not made lightly, and I understand the disappointment and inconvenience it may cause.

“Unforeseen circumstances beyond my control necessitate this cancellation.

“I sincerely apologise for any disruption this may cause. I know many of you have been training diligently and were looking forward to the camaraderie and challenge that this event provides.

“You will be informed soon by email about the refund process."

“I am deeply saddened to have to take this step, and I appreciate your understanding and patience as I work through this situation.”
