A SPECIAL presentation is to be made to former Ellesmere mayor Councillor Anne Wignall to mark her time in the role at the next town council meeting.

The former mayor, who handed the chains over to her former deputy Councillor Graham Hutchinson for the new Civic Year, served as mayor for two years.

Her presentation will be part of the meeting to be held on Monday (July 1) from 7.15pm.

Other items on the agenda include a verbal report from the annual town walk where councillors take in the town’s current state and make notes.

Councillors will be asked to consider a complaint made by a resident concerning dog walkers at Berwyn View Recreation Ground and they will also note an update of the actions taken.

Nominations will also be heard for the Star Council Awards while a response from Freedom Fibre, a broadband company, about the use of telegraph poles to install internet, as opposed to cable.

Road closures, including for Ellesmere Carnival on Saturday, August 17 between 12.45 to 1.30pm with Oswestry Road, Scotland Street, Victoria Street, Willow Street and Canal Way, all included.

Councillors will be asked to confirm the delegation powers to the town clerk Jo Butterworth plus Cllr Hutchinson and various heads of committees while council does not sit for the summer.

The meeting will be held in the town hall.
