PRIMARY school pupils in Oswestry were left delighted as they watched a 10-tonne machine being parked on the school field for their enjoyment.

The gift came courtesy of Ridgway Rentals, in St Martins, who took one of their JCG telehandlers to The Meadows School, in Harlech Road, on Wednesday.

Adam Jermaine-Jones, marketing manager at Ridgway Rentals, said staff were delighted to help out the school after a request was made to provide something for the school fete.

And he added that the enjoyment and excitement was not restricted to the youngsters.

He said: “The sounds of excitement could be heard from the open windows of classrooms.

“It was the hottest day of the year as Ridgway Rentals delivered a JCB 540V140 to The Meadows Primary School field in Oswestry yesterday.

“The annual school fete was setting up as the 10-tonne machine was expertly manoeuvred into position, ready for the eager children to see one of our new telehandlers up close.

“Ridgway Rentals had been asked to provide something for the fete earlier in the year, and were pleased to offer one of our new machines to create some excitement for the big day.

“As the school day drew a close parents and children flooded into the field to bounce on the bouncy castle, play the tombola and grab a photo by the 14-metre telehandler.
