AN OSWESTRY man who admitted two counts of attempting sexual communication with 13-year-old girls will be sentenced in August.

Carl Davies, 53 and of Aspens Court in English Walls, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court – sitting at Telford Justice Centre – charged with two offences.

He pleaded guilty to count one of attempting to talk to a 13-year-old girl called ‘Sophie' on an international chat for his own sexual gratification in September 2021.

He also admitted a second similar charge – this time talking to ‘Alexis’ – on the same date and ‘did not reasonably believe she was older than 16'.

Both girls were actually decoys.

Defence barrister Debra White asked Judge Laura Hobson to adjourn the sentence until a later date for a pre-sentence report, which was accepted.

Davies, who has no previous convictions, will be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Thursday, August 1.

Judge Hobson said: “It’s important that there’s a pre-sentence report so the judge who sentences you will know more about the case and you, as you’ve not been in trouble before.

“The fact that I’m adjourning for a pre-sentence report doesn’t give any indication of what sentence you’re going to receive.

“Because of your guilty pleas, you will have to sign the sex offenders register.”
