AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a Wrexham man in an incident at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
Daniel Martin Douglas Nichol, of Heol Abon, Cefn Mawr, was pronounced dead at a location near Ty Mawr Country Park on June 4 - six days after he was last seen at the aqueduct.
At County Hall in Ruthin on Monday (June 10), an inquest was opened into the 38-year-old's death.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that on May 30, North Wales Police was informed of an incident whereby a man had "jumped or fallen" from the aqueduct.
Mr Gittins said a cause of death has been deferred pending the full inquest.
