More than 100 vintage vehicles attended Shropshire’s Classics at the College raising more than £4,500 for charity.

Over the weekend, 117 classic cars took over Ellesmere College following a rally from Hope House children's hospice in Morda, near Oswestry.

The thousands raised will go towards Hope Hose continuing to provide vital care and support for children who have life-threatening conditions and their families.

The day kicked in the carpark at Hope House, where drivers were greeted with bacon butties provided by volunteers from Rapid Relief Team.

The buzz of the event reached the visiting children at the hospice, as they enjoyed the sight and sounds of the classic cars under the bright sunshine.

The vehicles then embarked on a rally through the Shropshire countryside, leading to Ellesmere College.

Upon reaching the campus, they joined the college’s family fun day which featured attractions such as games, inflatables for the children, live performances, and food stalls.

The event also included a competition where visitors voted for their favourite classic car.

The honours went to Mark Fetherstone with the Austin Seven 1937 Bread van, Matt Potts with his claret Mirage GT, and Charlie Edge with his 2002 Pilgrim Sumo Cobra Kit car, who landed the first, second and third spots respectively.

Fundraiser Cat Dowdeswell said: "It was such a glorious day with a total of 117 prized vehicles taking part.

"Thank you to everyone who came along to the rally, who joined at the College, and who came along on the day.

"So many people came together to make this event happen.

"Thank you to Rapid Relief Team for making sure drivers at Hope House were well fed, to volunteers who helped run everything so smoothly, to organisers David Sear and Julie Kirk, and to all the generous visitors who came along on the day.

"We are delighted to have raised around more than £4,500 which will help us to keep providing the support and care that is so important to our children and families."
