A HUSBAND and wife of health professionals working in orthotics are hoping an open day can show Oswestry what they can offer.
Ffion and Tom Woods have opened Woods Orthotics at the Cambrian Works in Oswestry, working predominantly with feet and ankles, in their first real venture into private healthcare.
The pair, who have been married since 2016, will be hoping the public will visit their new base on Wednesday, May 22 to learn more about what they can offer to people.

Ffion said: “Tom and I are married and we’ve set up a private clinic at the Cambrian Works close to Cambrian Medical Centre.
“We’ve opened to a few patients but we’re not fully open yet.
“We’re having an open day on Wednesday, May 22 and that’s going to open to anyone who wants to find out more about what we’re doing.
“There’s going to be refreshments too with tea and cake.
“We are open now but we didn’t want to set up the Open Day until we knew that we would be ready for it and that’s going to run from 11am until 6pm.
“That gives people who are at work enough time to come to see what we offer them.
“We receive referrals from all kinds of healthcare professionals, from physios, GPs – anyone who knows what we offer.
“The open day is about raising awareness of what we do and for members of the public to see how might be able to help them.
“We’re not podiatrists – we are registered prosthetic and orthotics health professionals, but currently we are not doing prosthetics.
“We do braces for all parts of the body though predominantly foot and ankle – but we can do all over the body.”
Together since 2009, Ffion and Tom qualified in 2012 and 2013 respectively and she says their journey into this new venture is a result of doors opening at the right time.
She said: “We previously worked together when we were in London but we came home and worked in the NHS.

“It was never our intention to take on private clients but there was a gap in the market because a previous person based in Shropshire retired.
“It’s been the perfect opportunity to launch our own venture.”
