The Facilities Manager at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has won a specialist industry accolade.
Recognised for her leadership in multiple sustainability projects, Sian Langford was the deserving recipient of the Leadership Excellence Award.
The award was presented by Hospital Caterers Association (HCA), during their esteemed annual Presidents Dinner.
The HCA represent the healthcare catering services, and annually celebrate its members who express exceptional dedication to providing healthcare catering.
Keeping in mind patients, visitors, and staff, they strive to acknowledge those that stand out in their service provision.
The 2024 leadership and development forum, where the award was presented, was held at the MacDonald Aviemore Resort, situated in the scenic Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland.
Ms Langford was put forth as a candidate by Tim Radcliffe, Net Zero Food programme manager at NHS England.
Mr Radcliffe applauded her for leading many sustainability projects, among which are reduction of single-use plastic at the hospital and maintaining superior food safety and reducing food waste.
Mr Radcliffe spoke highly of Sian, as he said: "Sian’s consistently exceeds expectations – delivering outstanding service and culinary experiences that leave a lasting impression on patients.
"Her attention to detail, creativity and commitment to quality inspires the team to strive for success and push the boundaries."
He also said: "Sian’s visionary leadership, dedication to excellence and commitment to the team’s success sets her apart as an exemplary role model, leader and an inspiration to others in the industry."
Ms Langford started her journey at the Oswestry-based hospital in 2010 as an administration apprentice, as part of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team.
Throughout the years, her role developed within the IPC Team, later leading her to her current position in Estates and Facilities overseeing the sustainability agenda.
Reacting to her achievement, Ms Langford said: "I am proud, and humbled, to have received the Leadership Excellence Award from the HCA.
"I’m lucky to work with a great team, in both Estates and Facilities and Catering, who have years of expertise.
"None of the initiatives we have worked on would be possible without their support.
"I’d also like thank Tim for the nomination.
"His kind words and help hasn’t gone unnoticed."
