A cordon is in place after an unexploded bomb was found in Wem.
West Mercia Police have placed a 30 metre cordon around Leek Street car park in the centre of the town after the discovery of an unexploded bomb.
According to the Police the bomb was handed into the police earlier this afternoon and specialist units will be heading to the site to assess the device and whether it "will be needed to be moved to a safe location".
West Mercia Police are urging the public to stay away from the area.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We currently have a 30-meter cordon in place following an unexploded ordnance being handed to the police this afternoon (Wednesday 17 April).
"The device is currently at the Leek Street car park in the centre of Wem.
"EOD (Explosives Ordnance Disposal) will attend the scene to assess the device and if need it will be moved to a safe location.
"The public are asked to stay away from the area."
