AN OSWESTRY man broke police handcuffs while assisting an offender in escaping police custody and will have to carry out unpaid work.
Andrew Davies, 51 and of Castlefields in Oswestry was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Wednesday, April 10 for assisting a man called Owen Batha.
Davies was sentenced for the offence which took place on April 24, 2020 for removing and damaging handcuffs that had been placed on the accused’s wrist.
He had previously admitted the charge of criminal damage to property under £5,000.
Judge Peter Barrie sentenced Davies to a 12-month community order and will have to complete 230 rehabilitation activity days.
Davies was also sentenced to 75 hours of unpaid work.
